Hello Washington Youth Soccer Family!

Soccer has been in nearly full swing across Washington over the last month, and even though a negative change in COVID-19 data in certain counties meant that they were rolled back to Phase 2, they can still play soccer and enjoy the wonderful spring and summer weather. As noted below, the key difference for the counties rolled back to Phase 2 is that players must continue to wear masks during games, while players in Phase 3 counties may remove them during competition.

As we believe we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel in Washington, we hope that you’ll continue to follow state guidelines if you do choose to allow your children to resume play with their respective clubs.

In addition to Return to Play, the most significant event happening in the near future for WYS is GiveBIG WA, a two-day campaign focused on raising money for the Foundation and its flagship program, Soccer for Success. See below for more details and a link to schedule your donation ahead of the big event on May 4-5.

We also have information from our partners at Soccer Goal Shelter, Protime, and Playform, as well as information about Coaching Education (sign up for C courses!), the WA Legends Scholarship, PCA Zoom workshops, and the Yak Attack tournament in Eastern Washington.

Stay safe and we’ll see you on the pitch!

Despite the recent statewide move to Phase 3, Governor Inslee rolled back three Washington counties to Phase 2: Cowlitz, Pierce, and Whitman. The main issues between Phases for youth soccer are regarding masks and spectators at indoor and outdoor events. Refer to the latest sporting guidelines for mask requirements, and these updated guidelines regarding how many people are allowed at games in your county according to the state. They key difference regarding masks is that in Phase 2, masks must be worn at all times, even during play, while in Phase 3 masks can be removed during competition.

Full Phase guidelines for youth sports can be found here.

Keep an eye on our Return to Play page for the most up-to-date information.
