|Happy New Year!
Many thanks to the Washington Youth Soccer family near and far for their continued support for our mission to bring youth soccer to every corner of our beautiful state. 2020 wasn’t the easiest on any of us, but we are ready and waiting for the moment we can finally come together on pitches across Washington and play the game we and our kids love. As soon as it is deemed safe to do so, soccer will be back in Washington.
While there has been good news in our state and beyond regarding COVID-19, the state government has provided outdoor sport guidelines to help ease us back to normalcy in parallel with improving pandemic conditions–at the moment, only full team practices are allowed in Phase 1 regions. See the latest release from the governor’s office regarding the Roadmap to Recovery, and keep an eye on our Return to Play page for all updates as they pertain to Washington Youth Soccer and our members.
We are, however, pleased to announce that our 2021 Coaching Education courses have been scheduled and are planning to be operated safely in accordance with state and local guidelines. We also partnered with soccer analytics app Platform to organize the Best Kick in Washington contest this month, giving all players the chance to show off their shooting boots and compete for prizes.
Our Virtual Auction, which we started alongside our Year-End Giving Campaign last month, is still going strong with new items being added regularly! Check out what we have up for bid now, and keep an eye on the auction page and our social media profiles for updates!
Finally, we have a great opportunity to assist with groundbreaking research regarding families and youth sports. Our friends at the Utah State University Families in Sport Lab are looking for young athletes and their families to complete a brief survey regarding how they approach and are affected by youth sports.
Again, we can’t thank you enough for your loyalty and continued support during this time. Here’s to hoping the next time you see this email, it’s announcing the return of the beautiful game to Washington.
