Government of Ontario Announcement on Stage 3 Re-Opening of the Economy |
The Government of Ontario announced its plan for Stage 3 of the Re-Opening of the Economy, which will commence on Friday, July 17, 2020.
Ontario Soccer is now reviewing and translating today’s announcement and how it impacts the Ontario Soccer Return to Play Guide and Plan with Canada Soccer and the relevant Government authorities.
Ontario Soccer will provided another update to our membership this week, before the government order goes into effect on Friday, July 17, 2020.

What does your organization need to do to get ready for a Return to Play? |
With the recent Government of Ontario announcement about Stage 3, there are now lots of new questions about Return to Play.
Is your organization interested in preparing for a Return to Play?
We can get help get you ready.
There is still a lot of work to be done but with the review of the Return to Play Guide, Return to Play Survey and the Pitch In. Play ON! campaign underway for much of the province, there is now an opportunity for you to begin getting ready for a return to the pitch in 2020.

Update to Match Official section in the Return to Play Guidelines |
After consultation with Canada Soccer, the following adjustment has been made to Phase 2 – Return to Training and Modified Games of the Ontario Soccer Return to Play Guide, under the Match Officials section.
There will be zero tolerance for spitting on, or around the field of play. If spitting is seen by one of the Match Officials a number of potential actions will be taken.

Community Coach Workshops are now Available Online. Fill your down time and get started today |
Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce that the Community coaching workshops are now available online.
To ensure that the Community Coaching Workshops are more accessible and to allow greater flexibility on when these courses can be delivered, the coaches will be able to work at their own pace to complete the course material.
Online learning is now available for Active Start, Fundamentals, Learn to Train and Soccer For Life.

Cancellation of Ontario Cup 2020 and Masters Provincial Championships |

In light of the ongoing impact of COVID-19 pandemic, Ontario Soccer has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 edition of the Ontario Cup, as well as the 2020 edition of the Masters Provincial Championships 2020.
Ontario Soccer took into account the regional and provincial realities of the requirements to host the competitions, as well as the challenges of completing competitions due to the restriction of matches.
Organizations which registered will now receive a full refund.

Rowan’s Law Mandatory Implementation |

The Province of Ontario, at the present time, is the only province in Canada to enact Concussion Safety legislation throughout its sport system.
‘Rowan’s Law’ received Royal Assent on March 7, 2018, and Section 5 of the Act, proclaiming a ‘Rowan’s Law Day’ was the only section that came into effect at that time.
However, in 2019, the remaining parts of the Act and the regulation have now come into effect in phases.

As Ontario’s Match Officials continue to prepare for the outdoor season with their online learning, Ontario Soccer is sharing another Match Official Panel Discussion from the Ontario Soccer Summit.
In this panel, the game and decision-making all come into play from different perspectives thanks to guests Scott Bowman (Canadian Premier League Match Official), Caroline Szwed (Sportsnet Host and Former Player) and Anthony Capotosto (Toronto FC Academy Director.)
The three have an open discussion regarding the view of decisionm-making from the eyes of a Match Official, Player and Coach.
