Ontario Soccer is seeking volunteers for the Diversity Advisory Sub-Committee. Be sure to apply by July 10 |
Ontario Soccer recognizes its responsibility to be a leader in promoting diversity and inclusion in sport and combating racism.
To this end, the Ontario Soccer Board of Directors has recently approved a Diversity Advisory Sub-Committee, with a role to recommend to the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, strategies focused on policy, programming and promotional initiatives that educate and raise awareness around diversity and discrimination in soccer.
Ontario Soccer is seeking volunteers, from its membership, who are interested in serving on this new committee.

The Return to Play FAQ #6 takes a specific look at questions about Phase 1 |
Ontario Soccer has prepared the following FAQ in response to the recently completed Return to Play webinars and questions that were brought forward by the membership.
The FAQ has a specific focus on those questions relevant to Ontario Soccer’s Return to Play Plan – Phase 1.
It looks at field size, equipment cleaning, proper insurance and lots more.

Cancellation of Ontario Cup 2020 and Masters Provincial Championships |
In light of the ongoing impact of COVID-19 pandemic, Ontario Soccer has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 edition of the Ontario Cup, as well as the 2020 edition of the Masters Provincial Championships 2020.
Ontario Soccer took into account the regional and provincial realities of the requirements to host the competitions, as well as the challenges of completing competitions due to the restriction of matches.
Organizations which registered will now receive a full refund.

Ontario Soccer Clubs, Academies and Districts are preparing for a Return to Play |
The Government of Ontario has given the green light for all of Ontario’s District Soccer Associations to begin the Return to Play.
It recently announced that all cities and regions would be able to begin ‘training’ under Ontario Soccer Return to Play Guide.
There is still a lot of work to be done but with the review of the Return to Play Guide, Return to Play Survey and the Pitch In. Play ON! campaign underway for much of the province, there is now an opportunity for us to begin getting ready for a return to the pitch in 2020.

To ensure that the Community Coaching Workshops are more accessible and to allow greater flexibility on when these courses can be delivered, the coaches will be able to work at their own pace to complete the course material.
Online learning is now available for Active Start, Fundamentals, Learn to Train and Soccer For Life.

Rowan’s Law Mandatory Implementation |

The Province of Ontario, at the present time, is the only province in Canada to enact Concussion Safety legislation throughout its sport system.
‘Rowan’s Law’ received Royal Assent on March 7, 2018, and Section 5 of the Act, proclaiming a ‘Rowan’s Law Day’ was the only section that came into effect at that time.
However, in 2019, the remaining parts of the Act and the regulation have now come into effect in phases.

In this panel, the game and decision-making all come into play from different perspectives thanks to guests Scott Bowman (Canadian Premier League Match Official), Caroline Szwed (Sportsnet Host and Former Player) and Anthony Capotosto (Toronto FC Academy Director.)
The three have an open discussion regarding the view of decisionm-making from the eyes of a Match Official, Player and Coach.
