Today is the last day to register your side for the Ontario Futsal Cup 2020

For the first time ever, the sport of futsal will be introduced in the 2020 Ontario Winter Games.

The 2020 Ontario Futsal Cup will be played in the Winter Games in the U-18 Boys and Girls divisions. Teams that enter the Ontario Futsal Cup in these divisions will be given an opportunity to qualify for the Final Round of the Ontario Futsal Cup, which will be held at the Ontario Winter Games.

Registration for the U-18 division, as well as other divisions, are now open for the Ontario Futsal Cup.

Only 12 spots left for the first C-License course of 2020

The first C-License of 2020 is filling up fast. Of the available 60 spots, 48 have already been filled.

The focus of the C-License is on the individual player in the different contexts of the game, as we try to develop their decision making and build their level of execution.

Coaches who obtain a C-License Certification will be able to be a Head Coach in some Regional Leagues, the OASL and an Assistant Coach in the OPDL.

Rowan’s Law Mandatory Implementation

The Province of Ontario, at the present time, is the only province in Canada to enact Concussion Safety legislation throughout its sport system.

‘Rowan’s Law’ received Royal Assent on March 7, 2018, and Section 5 of the Act, proclaiming a ‘Rowan’s Law Day’ was the only section that came into effect at that time.

However, in 2019, the remaining parts of the Act and the regulation have now come into effect in phases.

Canada Soccer young footballers Jayden Nelson and Olivia Smith have been named 2019 Canadian Youth International Players of the Year.

The Ontario duo have been recognized for their excellence at the international level with Canada Soccer’s national youth teams.

Ontario players win top Canadian Para and Futsal awards

Samuel Charron of Ottawa has been named Canadian Para Soccer Player of the Year and Luis Rocha of Toronto, has been named Canadian Futsal Player of the Year.

The two winners have been recognized for their excellence at the international level in their respective divisions.

Application details for 2020 Ontario Cup semi-final hosting

Ontario Soccer is now accepting bids from District Associations interested in hosting the Ontario Cup Semi-Finals in 2020.

The 2020 Ontario Cup Semi-Finals will be held on Aug. 29-20, 2020. The deadline for submitting a bid to host the Ontario Cup Semi-Finals is January 18, 2020.

Ontario Soccer announces 2020 Provincial Projects invites

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the selections for the 2020 Provincial Projects.

The selected athletes, between 40-50 per age group and gender, were previously evaluated at the Provincial Screening Competition in October or throughout the year and will now be further screened as part of the Provincial Projects.

The screening sessions and the preparation weekends will take place at the Ontario Soccer Centre, before the final rosters selections for the Provincial Teams are announced in April.

Ontario Soccer has opened the Outdoor 2020 season and is pleased to confirm that ‘OSCAR,’ the Ontario Soccer Club & Academy Registry, powered by SportsEngine, is ready for use for the Outdoor 2020 season.

More detailed information will follow regarding OSCAR 2020 and a conference call will be scheduled to provide answers for any questions organizations may have.

Ontario Soccer releases 2019-2021 Strategic Plan

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce its, Board of Directors approved new Strategic Plan for 2019-2021, which will serve as a road map for soccer in the province over the next three years.

The Strategic Plan will focus on four key areas of the sport and within those areas, each have three Strategic Initiatives where Ontario Soccer will look at tackling opportunities on and off the field.
