Here we go, starting a new Fall soccer season at Washington Youth Soccer. Our team worked hard all summer to coordinate leagues, recruit referees, educate coaches, and develop opportunities for kids to play soccer. Washington Youth Soccer is continuing our 54 th year of commitment to the development and promotion of soccer for all youth in Washington State. From recreational play to the highest level of competition, we strive to give you the tools you and your family need to be successful in your soccer endeavors and encourage you to work hard today to reap the rewards of tomorrow. We encourage all players, parents, coaches, referees, spectators and volunteers alike to never forget what got them here in the first place: love of the game. This remains our common goal, and at WYS we are committed to establishing the proper environment, information, and resources that allow you to satisfy this passion and stay focused on enjoying this new soccer season. We have worked hard to provide and support programs and opportunities that cater to all levels of play. In the past year, WYS: Has been awarded a phenomenal grant from the US Soccer Federation’s Innovate To Grow (ITG) Fund to help expand play and develop mentors in Central Washington. Continued outreach program with our member associations.
Expanded the new national SafeSport http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=20&d=27&mid=567345&m=3210 program, helping associations and clubs keep our children safe from abuse.
Joined the national stage – Our Board of Directors http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=21&d=27&mid=567345&m=3210 now have integral roles at the national level; not only do they participate in the Organizational Growth Committee (OGC) for US Youth Soccer, but they have also been appointed to the US Soccer Rules Committee. These new responsibilities help us better define our programs in Washington State.
WYS has grown respect for the game in Washington State through our multi-year RESPECT Campaign http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=22&d=27&mid=567345&m=3210 which improves the playing environment for our youth players in order to encourage both player and character development.
We also support recreational youth soccer programs via our statewide member associations. In addition, we offer youth soccer leagues to those who desire to be competitive through the North Puget Sound League (NPSL), http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=23&d=27&mid=567345&m=3210 South Sound United League (SSUL) http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=24&d=27&mid=567345&m=3210 and our continuing efforts in Eastern Washington in partnership with our friends in Idaho Youth Soccer to make the game better. For those who have the opportunity to play at the top club level, we offer the Regional Club League (RCL). http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=25&d=27&mid=567345&m=3210 And for those individual players who want to take their talents to the pinnacle of youth soccer, we have the Elite Player Development (EDP) http://www.idevmail.net/link.aspx?l=26&d=27&mid=567345&m=3210 program, which competes in the national Olympic Development Program (ODP). We also facilitate our annual state-wide tournaments through the Recreational Cup, Founders Cup, Presidents Cup, and Washington State Championships. Whatever your skill level and wherever you find yourself playing this year, we hope that your commitment always comes back to the love the game. This means that we strive to improve the standards in every facet of youth soccer. Our Board of Directors is committed to overseeing the programs and logistics that help youth soccer in Washington maintain quality standards. We also recognize and thank our volunteers this year with a special “Salute to Volunteers 2020” series of celebration events that you will hear more about in the coming weeks. To the players, we thank you for your passion for the game and hope that it is always the reason you play. We thank the parents for being involved and invested in your child’s life and hope that you also remember to love the game. To the coaches, your commitment to teach and lead is invaluable and paramount to our success on and off the field. And to the referees, we cannot thank you enough for your vital role in maintaining the structure and safety needed for each game.
