Ontario Soccer Provincial teams dominant at Inter-Provincial competition

Ontario Soccer’s provincial teams put on a dominant performance this past weekend at the Inter-Provincial competition.

The U-14, U-15 and U-16 teams, for both the boys and girls groups, represented their province as Team Ontario when they took on the provincial squad from Quebec over the weekend.

Ontario teams finished with a combined record of 10 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses.

Ontario Player Development League kicks off its sixth season this weekend

Ontario Soccer’s Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) will officially enter it’s sixth season this weekend, as games kick-off across the province at six centralized venues.

Twenty-three clubs, one Professional Academy and one Private Academy are confirmed for the upcoming season, as the OPDL will make adjustments in 2019 to better support the advancement of athletes along the Talented Pathway.

47 academies to be part of Ontario Academy Soccer League 2019

The Ontario Academy Soccer League (OASL) season is ready to kick off May 4-5 for its first weekend of play in 2019.

The third year of the OASL Pilot Program operated by Ontario Soccer, in partnership with DG Sports, will feature 47 private Academies and approximately 300 teams from across the province.

Twenty-eight Academies will play in OASL Tier 1 and 19 Academies will play in Tier 2.

Ontario Soccer Board of Director expressions of interest now public

Ontario Soccer has released the Ontario Soccer Board of Director Expressions of Interest.

These expressions of interest by individuals indicate their intent to run for open positions in the Ontario Soccer Board of Director elections on June 16, 2019.

The Nominations Committee has received no nominations from District Members for the Regional East Director for the new Ontario Soccer Board of Directors.

Nominations open today Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and will close at the end of the day Wednesday, May 22, 2019.

7 Ontario players selected to Canada Men’s U-17 squad

Canada Soccer have announced their squad of future stars to compete at the 2019 CONCACAF Men’s U-17 Championship, set to get underway May 2 against rivals USA.

Seven Ontario players will be part of the squad who compete in Bradenton, Florida from May 2-16.

12 Ontario players called to Canada Women’s U-17 camp

Canada Soccer will hold a six-day Women’s U-17 camp in Markham, ON, as part of the Women’s EXCEL Program.

The May 5-10 camp will feature players from Canada Soccer’s Super REX Centres in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec as well as Regional EXCEL Centres from across the country.

12 Ontario players have been selected to the camp.

Two Ontario match officials were selected to call CPL opener

Two Ontario Match Officials got to be part of history.

Yusri Rudolf and Peter Pendli, both from Ontario, were selected to call the inaugural Canadian Premier League game between Forge FC and York 9.

Pendli was chosen as an assistant referee while Rudolf acted as the fourth official.

Match Officials mentor program being introduced in May 2019

Ontario Soccer would like to inform all District Associations, Clubs and Academies of the implementation of the Long Term Match Official Development (LTOD) Mentor Program that is being introduced in May 2019.

As a component of Ontario Trillium Funding, Ontario Soccer will be providing 25 complimentary Mentor Accreditation Clinics across the province. District Referee Coordinators are encouraged to reach out to allocate a clinic.

10 organizations announced for Same Game pilot project

Ontario Soccer has selected the 10 organizations to help pilot the Same Game project.

In partnership with the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), these 10 organizations will help test the Same Game model, which will assist organizations with creating more opportunities for the female leaders of tomorrow.

Canada to play Mexico at BMO Field in Toronto on May 18

Canadians will have the opportunity to see Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team live in action before the team departs on its mission to bring home the top prize in women’s football – the FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy.

Canada will face Mexico on Saturday, May 18 at BMO Field in Toronto. Tickets are now sale.

In alignment with the successful launch and transition to OSCAR, Ontario Soccer has identified the need to provide greater up-to-date information on the status of OSCAR, its functionality and available solutions.

As such, Ontario Soccer has added an additional page to its website where regular updates and changes to OSCAR can be found for those who are active in using the registration platform on a more consistent basis.

Registration for Masters Provincial Championships closes May 8

Registration for the Masters Provincial Championships (Men and Women) is now open and will close Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

Winning teams from each of the Men’s and Women’s divisions will have the opportunity to represent Ontario at the National Championships in September.

Find your path to the 2019 Ontario Cup

The 2019 Ontario Cup draws are now available for all divisions.

The Ontario Cup is the Soccer-For-Life Provincial Soccer Championship and is the largest competition of its kind in Canada.

The Ontario Cup draw has determined the path for over 400 teams across 16 divisions in hopes of becoming provincial champions.

WATCH – Anthony Capotosto leads an on-field session

Anthony Capotosto, Toronto FC’s Academy Director, led an on-field session at the Ontario Soccer Summit 2019.

Capotosto ran through a 90-minute session entitled “Playing Across the Direct Game Channel” where he thoroughly broke down the objective of the session, what coaches should try to get out of it with their own players and how it works at Toronto FC Academy.

Ontario Soccer releases 2019-2021 Strategic Plan

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce its, Board of Directors approved, new Strategic Plan for 2019-2021, which will serve as a road map for soccer in the province over the next three years.

The Strategic Plan will focus on four key areas of the sport and within those areas, each have three Strategic Initiatives where Ontario Soccer will look at tackling opportunities on and off the field.
