Registration for Ontario Cup 2019 is now open for this year’s soccer for life competition

The 2019 Ontario Cup entry form is now available on the Ontario Soccer website and the entry deadline for this year’s competition is April 2, 2019.

Please note that entries will not be accepted after that deadline.

The deadline to nominate for the 2019 Centre Circle Awards is Friday

The Centre Circle Awards, presented by Nothers, are Ontario Soccer’s highest level of recognition and are presented annually to deserving soccer leaders and organizations nominated on the basis of their outstanding contributions to the development of soccer in Ontario.

Ontario Soccer recognizes soccer leaders annually through the Centre Circle Awards and this year, the 2019 Centre Circle Awards will be presented in Toronto on June 15, 2019.

The deadline for submitting nominations to Ontario Soccer is March 15, 2019.

A new concussion policy and return to soccer strategy has been released

On March 1, 2019, Ontario Soccer’s Board of Directors approved the recommendation to adopt the updated Canada Soccer Policy on Concussion and Return to Play Strategy.

This policy is intended for those managing concussions in soccer at all levels.

The Ontario Soccer Summit 2019 may be over but the learning opportunities will continue for the next month.

Ontario Soccer will be releasing videos from select keynote speeches, technical sessions and panel discussions over the next four weeks. Ontario Soccer Summit delegates receive first-access to all videos and presentations before they’re published.

Today, Ontario Soccer has publicly released the Keeping Girls in Sport panel discussion.

Playing up research project in partnership with Queens University

Ontario Soccer, through the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and in partnership with the Performance Lab for the Advancement of Youth in Sport (PLAYS) at Queen’s University is conducting research to examine the prevalence of ‘playing up’ in youth soccer.

In order to better understand and quantify the movement of players into older age groups, the research group would like to review data gathered by Ontario Districts and Clubs.

Best Practices Guide unveiled for match official development

Ontario Soccer is investing in its Match Officials.

As part of its Long Term Officials Development (LTOD), a strategic initiative aimed at providing standards-based education and development for Match Officials, Ontario Soccer unveiled the Club Best Practice guide – a Comprehensive Guideline for Match Officials Development Programming at the Club level.

The first of its kind, the document will be used to assist Club head referees with the programming at their Clubs and raise the level of match officiating across the province.

Applications open for Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program

Ontario Soccer has opened applications to the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program.

Clubs and Private Academies wishing to apply for the highest level within the program, “National Youth Club License” must be accepted into OPDL via the Application and Selection Process, recently outlined.

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the launch of its new registration platform, which will serve to connect soccer in the province like never before.

Ontario Soccer Club & Academy Registry (OSCAR), previously referred to as the Member Management Registration System, has been built in association with SportsEngine, the Official Technology Partner of Ontario Soccer and will now let Clubs and Academies connect their real-time participation registration data on a single platform.

Effective January 28, 2019, Ontario Soccer, in partnership with SportsEngine, launched the Ontario Soccer Club and Academy Registry (OSCAR).

In alignment with the successful launch and transition to OSCAR, powered by SportsEngine, the former registration system, ‘AIMS’ has now been retired for any future registrations seasons.

Ontario Soccer Summit reached new heights in 2019

The Ontario Soccer Summit, presented by Respect in Sport, hit new heights in 2019.

On the final day of the 2019 Ontario Soccer Summit, Ontario Soccer announced the date, location of the host city and district for the 2020 Ontario Soccer Summit.

The headline, keynote speaker, was also announced and it has set a high benchmark for 2020.

2019 ORA and OASL details announced

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the Ontario Recognized Academies (ORA) approved the Ontario Soccer Board of Directors for the 2019 season.

54 Academies are now part of the ORA program, with 40 Academies having renewed their ORA status from 2018 and 14 successful new applications.

ORA organizations have demonstrated an ability to meet technical and administrative standards set by Ontario Soccer.

Roll-out of Canada Soccer’s Club Licensing Program continues

Ontario Soccer is preparing to roll-out the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program across the province.

The roll-out includes workshops that are available for Districts, Leagues, Club and Academies.

Applications to join the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program will open in March 2019.

Cheque payments moving to Electronic Payments via EFT

Ontario Soccer has reviewed the time it takes to process payments to members and suppliers. In addition, Ontario Soccer has reviewed with our bankers, the incidence of and increasing potential for fraud in relation to the preparation and distribution of paper cheques.

Accordingly, Ontario Soccer are transitioning all payments made by cheque to electronic payments.

Ontario Soccer releases 2019-2021 Strategic Plan

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce its, Board of Directors approved, new Strategic Plan for 2019-2021, which will serve as a road map for soccer in the province over the next three years.

The Strategic Plan will focus on four key areas of the sport and within those areas, each have three Strategic Initiatives where Ontario Soccer will look at tackling opportunities on and off the field.
