US Youth Soccer is pleased to recognize the following individuals with the July 2018 Clif Kid Raise the Bar Award!

Taylor from Colorado Springs, Colo.
Taylor turned to soccer as an outlet as she has become a leader on and off the field. She has natural talent that has been accompanied by technical skills through her dedication and practice. Taylor has never missed a practice since being a part of Pride Soccer Club. In less than two years with the club, she has worked her way up from the third lowest team to the top team within the club.

Jamieson from Watertown, N.Y.
Jamieson is a member of Upstate United Soccer Club’s 12U and 14U teams, where he has an impact in every game as a leader. He is a talented and creative player that is a leading example of what sportsmanship is as he does not hesitate to stop during play to help pick an opponent up. When not playing soccer, he is singing in his church’s choir or participating in one of its many activities.

Each month, we recognize one male and one female US Youth Soccer Player of the Month with the Clif Kid Raise the Bar Award. To nominate someone you think is deserving of receiving the Clif Kid Raise the Bar Award, read the criteria and fill out this form
US Youth Soccer and Premier International Tours renew partnership agreement This month both organizations extended their partnership agreement. One of the exciting new additions to the agreement is that Premier International Tours will give each winning team of the 13U and 14U Boys and Girls US Youth Soccer National Championship a $10,000.00 travel certificate each to be used towards a 2019 International Tour. We are thrilled to offer these teams an opportunity to test themselves on an international level after winning the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championship! Silence on the Sidelines Lets Kids Learn In his own sports parenting experience, Alexi Lalas stays silent on the sidelines and lets coaches coach and kids play. Primarily, Lalas stays out of the way out of respect for the coach who has volunteered their time to coach his kid. Lalas urges other parents to resist the urge to jump in and say something from the sidelines, even when you know you could help the coach correct a mistake. Instead, Lalas suggests that parents let kids AND coaches make mistakes, as they will learn more quickly that way. Often, we think about letting kids develop by making mistakes, but it is equally important to keep this in mind for coaches.
