ESPN World Cup posters for Russia 2018

One of the highlights every four years for soccer fans in the United States is the release of ESPN’s posters for the World Cup. Although not available in stores, the US broadcaster hires a different designer each time to take a unique perspective of each country. Even though ESPN has lost the rights to the World Cup and it’s FOX’s turn to broadcast the World Cup to television sets across the United States this summer, ESPN has gone ahead and produced a series of posters designed by an artist named Paul Lacolley. Instead of creating one for each of the

Moscow (AFP) – Russia has said gay and lesbian fans should feel welcome at its World Cup this month but violent threats against LGBT people planning to travel to the event tell a different story.  Other LGBT football fans who have attended international tournaments say they have no intention of visiting a country notorious for anti-gay laws and in one region the torture of gay men by police.  Di Cunningham, who heads an alliance of LGBT fan groups in the UK, was sent anonymous emails warning the organisation to stay away from the World Cup after she gave an interview

Henderson keen to move on from Champions League blow

Burton-on-Trent (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson believes a quick turnaround from defeat in the Champions League final to representing England at the World Cup can ease the pain of defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev. Two huge goalkeeping errors from Loris Karius and a spectacular overhead kick from Gareth Bale prevented Henderson from lifting his first trophy since replacing Steven Gerrard as skipper at Anfield in a 3-1 defeat on May 26. “It’s been difficult over the last ten days. It was hard to take,” Henderson said on Tuesday. “I’ve had a little bit of time off

Burton-on-Trent (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Harry Kane has urged his England team-mates to put the negativity that has blighted previous campaigns behind them as a new-look squad look to make an impact at the World Cup in Russia.
