Roma lose Julio Sergio for a month
Thursday 23 September, 2010
Roma have suffered another heavy blow after Julio Sergio was ruled out for a month following last night's 2-1 defeat to Brescia.

The Brazilian goalkeeper dislocated his foot in a challenge, but couldn't be substituted because Claudio Ranieri had already made three changes.

He was seen crying in agony in the final minutes of the match and clearly couldn't wait for the final whistle.

Julio Sergio underwent a series of medical tests this morning and the dislocation was confirmed.

Roma now have a goalkeeping crisis on their hands ahead of this weekend's match against Inter.

Both Bogdan Lobont and Alexandre Doni haven't convinced, although the latter is expected to get the nod.

As things weren't bad enough, now things are just terrible at Trigoria. Without Julio Sergio, the team loses immensely, it's incredible how many important and decisive saves he can pull in one game to save the team (despite the results this season, nothing was his fault).

Now we have to depend on Doni who featured 5 times last season and guess what we lost the 5 times.

very tough moments these days.

Doni has been good in the past, he'll have to pull his finger out.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's clash with Inter, Ranieri gave an insight into who he will pick to replace Julio Sergio.

The Brazilian goalkeeper dislocated his foot against Brescia and will be out for a month.

“Doni is working well, but right now Lobont is Julio's deputy,” he concluded.

So it's gonna be Lobont then, i don't know if this is the right choice or not. I haven't seen them play in a long time but everytime i see Lobont in goal, he disappoints rolleyes.gif

Actually, Lobont played a good game, made a very important save towards the end from inside the box. Also, all his clearances from the corners were very well executed. Roma's Numero 2 might not be that bad after all.
